The PSP (PlayStation Portable) is the hugely successful handheld gaming console produced by SONY; it was first released in Japan in December 2004, with North America coming next in March of the following year whilst Europe had to wait until September the first 2005 to get their hands on the console.

September 2007 saw the first overhaul of the design with the release of the PSP Slim and Lite, the redesign is 33% lighter and 19% slimmer than the original console plus it included composite TV output, twice as much on-board RAM (64MB as opposed to 32) and there was an improvement in the screens display, the games loading times also decreased, a few switches were shuffled around and the speakers also moved.

Barely a year on the PSP 3000 is due to hit the stores, set for an October 2008 release this model will soon be THE definitive edition of the console, it boasts several new features which are covered in the PS3 3000 section.
